Philippine Coast Guard Bataan Station heightened the monitoring activities of the entire coastal areas of the province by stationing additional officers and personnel in the whole duration of the Holy Week that saw the surge of visitors and beach goers.

PCG Bataan Station Commander Jonathan Serote said more personnel were assigned to beach areas like Morong and Bagac towns who immediately responded to incidents.

Coast Guard Morong Substation Commander Michael B. Macayan reported an adult male died in Morong beach on Black Saturday that he clarified due to heart and not drowning.

Serote commended volunteers who were scammed a few months ago by a fake group recruiting for Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) for keeping the fire of volunteerism and joined them in the monitoring activity despite the bad experience.

He lauded former Abucay town councilor Jason Marcelo and Agapito Pacorsa for leading the volunteers who aided PCG in the province during the Holy Week.

He said volunteers have been of great help in the many endeavors of PCG. Eighty four new recruits from Bataan including Marcelo and Pacorsa are set to take oath as members of PCGA on April 17 at PCG Headquarters, Manila.

It will be recalled that PCG filed charges against four individuals belonging to a group 101st Balangay PCGA Inc. who allegedly recruited 480 Bataan residents to become PCGA members.
